So, it’s nearly the end of 2022, and we’ve got ‘best of’ lists coming out of our ears. Yesterday, we revealed the best Indian restaurants in the UK, and today we’ve got an even better one – the UK’s favourite restaurants, full stop.

Restaurant booking and reviewing platform OpenTable analysed more than 1.4 million reviews from diners across the UK to find the restaurants which left the most lasting impression. Now, OpenTable has revealed the top 100 – and winners showed up in Buckinghamshire, Cornwall, Devon, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Kent, Lancashire, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Norfolk, Oxford, South Wales and Warwickshire. London had the most winners (a whopping 66 overall), with Yorkshire and Edinburgh coming second and third.

Some of the winning restaurants had received as many as 10,000 reviews, and all received an average of 4.5 stars or more. In London, the restaurant with the most positive reviews was Hawksmoor Air Street in Piccadilly, which serves up high-end British cuisine. In Edinburgh, the most popular was White Horse Oyster & Seafood Bar on the Royal Mile, and in Yorkshire the winner was The Starr Inn The City, a contemporary British restaurant in York.

Other standouts were The Assembly House in Norwich, The Elephant Restaurant in Devon and Michael Wan’s Mandarin, a Chinese restaurant in Blackpool. You can check out the full list here
