Plenty of travellers enjoy splashing out on a hotel every now and then, but sometimes only an entire holiday home will do. There’s something great about having your own little living space and kitchen (and maybe even a private balcony or stunning pool) so you can really do your own thing when on yer hols.

We’re all pretty familiar with Airbnb, but there are plenty of other holiday rental platforms out there, too. And one of them, Vrbo, has over 2 million available to book on its website. To showcase the very best of those rentals, Vrbo has just announced its list of UK Holiday Homes of the Year for 2024.

Jon Gieselman, president of Expedia Brands (which includes Vrbo), said: ‘This year’s list is the best of the best but represents the high calibre of private holiday homes across Vrbo.’

Each property selected boasts a rating of at least 4.9 or more, plus positive guest reviews and some knock-out amenities, and these homes have definitely delivered. Think thatched cottages, glitzy townhouses and quaint little countryside barns, with jacuzzis, mountain views and stunning periodic features. We’ve even got some snaps of them below.
