In the market for a quirky property? Maybe something not too far from the sea, and for quite a bit under the average house price in the UK? Well, here’s might be exactly the sort of thing you’re after. A gorgeous old church in a Scottish seaside town is up for sale for just £150,000.

The church is called Muckle Kirk and it’s in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire. Dating back to 1804, it’s being sold by the Church of Scotland as part of the organisation’s ongoing downsizing efforts.

So what exactly do you get for your £150,000? Well, Muckle Kirk’s ground floor features a typical sort of church area described in the listing as ‘open plan’, as well as teaching rooms and an office. There’s a balcony, as well as a first floor with a hall, kitchen and loos.

What you might be allowed to use Muckle Kirk for isn’t clear. The building is, however, ‘grade A-listed’, meaning that any alterations might need approval from the powers that be (and no, not the big guy in the sky – probably the local council).

Here are a few pics of the church.

All this is in Peterhead, a seaside town that is one of the biggest settlements in Aberdeenshire and one of the UK’s busiest fishing ports. It’s about a 45-minute drive from Aberdeen.
