Social media has changed the way that we live. It impacts everything from the clothes we choose to wear to the places we go to to grab coffee.

Analysing online popularity of different coffee shops based on TikTok views, Insta hashtag uses, and overall searches online, gambling website Betway has uncovered the world’s most popular indie cafés, and three of them are in the UK. Yep, three!

Two out of the three are, predictably, in the capital. Ozone Coffee Roasters and Feya both made their way into the top ten, at fifth and tenth spots respectively. London having popular cafés is unsurprising to anyone, but what’s worth talking about is the other UK spot which outranked both of them.

Coming in at fourth most popular in the entire world, Federal in Manchester is officially the coolest place to get caffeinated in the country. Located in the city’s Northern Quarter, the brand boasts over 55k followers on Instagram. They describe themselves as being ‘inspired by Kiwi and Aussie neighbourhood hangouts,’ and promise ‘a little slice of Antipodean happiness in the heart of the city.’

Federal doesn’t only serve coffee: its brunch is worth a try too. But be warned – the café doesn’t take reservations. So if you’re hoping to snag a table you’ll just have to head over and try your luck. And a huge congratulations to Federal for winning against all odds. The entire UK (minus London) is behind you.

Did you know that the UK might be about to get hit with a 'wall of snow'?
