Is your social media feed packed with endless reels of food? You’re pretty much dead-certain to have come across Spud Bros. The duo, known for flogging supremely stacked hot potatoes out of a tram in Preston, are one of the great TikTok food success stories.
Following the first Spud Bros Express pop-up in central London at the end of last year (which prompted queues around the block), now the brothers have opened a new Express venture – and it’s their first outside the capital.
Spud Bros Express opened in Liverpool last week, on Thursday September 4. The outlet dishes up all the bros’ best-loved spuds, from the SpudBros Classic – with garlic butter, signature three-cheese mix, beans, crispy onions and ‘tram sauce’ – to the Spudfather, which is topped with chilli con carne, tuna coleslaw and bolognese. There’s also the option to create your own stacked spud.
Spud Bros started life as a family business at Preston’s Flag Market, and was founded way back in 1955. In recent years brothers Jacob and Harley Nelson have transformed the stall into a social media sensation, garnering millions of followers on TikTok, YouTube and Instagram. Celebrity fans apparently include Will Smith, Joe Jonas and Liam Neeson, and the duo have even secured a kit sponsorship deal with local football team Preston North End.
Spud Bros Express Liverpool is open seven days a week, 11am to 8pm, at Unit 2, Queen Square, L1 1RH.
