Kids moved out? Want to save some dosh? Maybe you fancy downsizing – literally? Britain’s shortest home has officially hit the market, standing at only two metres tall (yes, really).

Ye Olde Toll House is in the village of Newton Poppleford near Sidmouth, Devon, and is now on sale with a bidding price starting at £70,000. If you take into account the fact the building dates back to 1758, that price tag really isn’t too shabby.

The property has yellow painted walls and a Shrek-esque thatched roof. Inside, there’s an entrance porch, living room, small kitchen, a shower room and one bedroom. You’ll also get some outdoor space and a reasonably sized attic.

The property is on sale via Clive Emson Land and Property Auctioneers, who describe the property as ‘a charming detached thatched Toll House for updating’.

The listing adds: ‘This unique single-storey property is believed to date back to 1758 and is situated in the popular East Devon village of Newton Poppleford, which is only four miles from the popular seaside town of Sidmouth.

‘The property is likely to be of interest to a home owner or those looking for a lock-up-and-leave bolthole. It could also be of interest to investment purchasers.’
