Thought you’d ticked off all the city breaks Europe had to offer? Think again. Liverpool John Lennon Airport has just said hello to a brand-new airline that will offer travellers the chance to unearth a lesser known, more ‘underrated’ city.
A post on X from the airport’s official account welcomed Dan Air, a Romanian airline, to the airport. It operates flights to the Romanian city of Bacău and took off from Liverpool for the first time last Thursday.
In another post, the airport said: ‘Dan Air is officially here, and they're now operating direct flights from Liverpool to Bacau! Book your flights to one of Romania's most underrated cities here’.
Bacău is the main urban area in Romania’s Bacău County and is surrounded by the stunning Carpathian Mountains, glimmering lakes and beautiful forests and hosts a bunch of cultural events throughout the year. The flights from Liverpool John Lennon to Bacău airport start from €94 (£81) return.
Exploring Europe
There are always new routes popping up that open up more corners of Europe for us Brits discover. In April, Ryanair will start operating flights from Norwich and this winter has launched more flights from Cornwall. There may also be new routes using the Eurotunnel that will let us explore the continent in a more sustainable way.
