Long before the first punches are thrown, creative exhaustion kills the mood like Kryptonite.
If there’s any justice, dawning or otherwise, at the multiplex, audiences will reject Zack Snyder’s lumbering, dead-on-arrival superhero mélange, a $250 million tombstone for a genre in dire need of a break. It’s supposed to be the glorious ramp-up to a new crime-fighting franchise, DC Comics’ Justice League, but you’ll wish this strenuously empty movie had boned up on a few lessons beforehand: There’s zero humor or self-deprecation, as there was in Joss Whedon’s pitch-perfect The Avengers; no performance of unlikely depth, like the one Heath Ledger pulled off in The Dark Knight; and no animating spirit of decency, a trait Christopher Reeve’s Superman had in spades.
Instead, we have Henry Cavill’s persistently inert Clark Kent and, somehow worse, Ben Affleck’s one-dimensionally vexed Bruce Wayne (less playboy than paycheck) squaring off in a Metropolis still reeling from the devastation of 2013’s Man of Steel. Neither actor is capable of setting the screen on fire—their first verbal showdown is hardly Pacino versus De Niro in Heat—but the imbalance feels especially acute in a city that’s supposed to be publicly debating the philosophical merits of omnipotence. Add to the mix Jesse Eisenberg’s instantly annoying, tic-laden Lex Luthor, a millennial billionaire who speaks in chattering screenwriter-ese (“The red capes are coming!”), and Amy Adams’s Lois Lane, never more lost in a film that has no use for her softness, and you have a distinctly plastic affair.
The plot turns on the shocking, never-mentioned-again destruction of a symbolic American edifice, a bloodless explosion that one-ups Independence Day’s White House flattening for glibness. Minutes later, we’re supposed to be whipped into a fanboy frenzy by the tribal drumming that accompanies our first hints of Gal Gadot’s severely corseted Wonder Woman (a character that could use some complexity and, if it’s not too late, a better actor). The endgame is your typical WrestleMania nonsense, bereft of weight or grandeur, set in a generic rubblescape that’s emblematic of the script’s lack of human stakes. (Affleck brings on his Argo writer Chris Terrio, but the impact is negligible.) Only the movie’s seesawing, Sergei Prokofiev–inspired score, by Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL, contains a glimmer of wit. Shamelessly, Batman v Superman lunges for a funereal mood in its final stretch, but come on: We all know superheroes don’t die, not when there are reboots in the balance. After this one, you’ll wish a few of them did.

I loved every minute of BvS, but I can see why it might not be a movie for everyone. Contrary to what some critics have said, this is not a popcorn movie, and is not overstuffed. The story is clear, characters act according to what they know and Justigue League elements are drawn briefly.
Batman v Superman has a clear outline: Act 1: Accountability after Man of Steel; Act 2: Batman v Superman; Act 3: Dawn of justice. But.. besides this fact, there is not much in this movie that you might have seen in any Superman or Batman movie, or even in other Superhero o Comic movies.
For the way it was cut, it seemed there was too much material they wanted to add and maybe there was a struggle with the running time. This could be the reason for the upcoming extended R rated version. The BvS fight in the second act was not as long as I had expected. It delivered on the premise but lacked dialogue between the two main characters, and I'd say that about 70% of the fight scenes are already on the trailers and advances.
BvS introduces us to Afflec's Batman, an older, experienced vigilante, acting with disregard with the law and even going as far as killing and using firearms. We see again Henry Cavill doing the heavy work as Superman (not a task for anybody), and Gal Gadot as the first big screen incarnation of Wonder Woman.
BvS it's a outstanding film. Read the reviews, but watch the film and make up your own mind.
"People hate what they don't understand." The film was wonderful, it's not exhausting but rather dark and rewarding. It deserves a viewing before you form an opinion, because the simple-minded will miss out of this gem. It's shot gorgeously, has a thrilling soundtrack, great performances from the cast and fans of comic books will be in for a treat. This review does not reflect the opinion of a fan, but rather someone who had the pleasure of being able to watch the film early and possibly had a preconceived view of it.
I was expecting more; actually no more 'stuff' as this movie is full of it, trying to be too many things in what it feels like a panic reaction to the Marvel universe movies' success. But I was expecting more depth, better acting, better script. The plot tries to almost reset the Batman franchise, but Bale's Batman is still too recent and too good for this. Lex Luthor's character reminds me too much of a certain internet mogul played by the same actor. Just adding more tics. Unbearable Eisenberg.I did not get the pointless introduction of Wonder Woman as a two-dimensional character. (By the way, was Captain America in that black & white photo?). She did not add much to the movie, I'm afraid.There were far too many loose ends for my taste. The battle between Batman and Superman was over so fast, and suddenly they are friends!! How? Why?At least the money spent in special effects can be seen. It is fast-paced, except for the funeral bits, and it is clearly setting up the new tirade of new DC heroes coming our way. Looking forward to Marvel vs DC in years to come... Or maybe not?
good fight in between god and man ... the ending is not the ending ... is just the beginning of a new story
It was great! The best of everything i have ever see until now. It combines so many things with very smart way! It starts like a psychological mystery film and give it all at the end with epic battles. If you see deep in the core of this movie you will discover a great combination of different comic aspects. This movie deserve a multilevel analysis and a fair criticism!
