House of Mortal Sin

House of Whipcord and Frightmare, the first two films McGillivray scripted for Walker, suggested that the two of them might possibly invigorate low budget British exploitation. Mortal Sin, however, is a disappointment, although it has its moments. Crazed old Catholic priest terrorises young girl after her confession, while her sister is getting the curate, a young liberall, all hot under the collar. The script relies too much on mild sacrilege for its effects, instead of concentrating on more interesting aspects of religious repression.
