Margarette's Feast

An energetic, humorous - and entirely wordless - monochrome homage to the silent cinema aesthetic, as well as an often acute satire on the social and economic imbalances to be found in contemporary Brazil. Following 'Ordinary Man' from his humble cabin origins to involvement in the urban bustle and the discovery of a forever replenishing suitcase full of cash, it maintains a hold for most of its journey, although there remains a sense that the self-imposed aesthetic limitations of the project finally restrict the full range of the political enquiry that writer, director, cameraman and editor Renato Falcâo is clearly committed to.
