If you thought after her colorful turn as Effie Trinket in the Hunger Games series, Elizabeth Banks might be looking for a subtle, dramatic role for her next project, you'd be thinking wrong.

Banks—actress, producer and successful director (Pitch Perfect 2)—will play witchy villainess Rita Repulsa in a Power Rangers movie set for release in 2017.

(Wait: Power Rangers movie? you ask, already struggling to get the earwormy theme song out of your head. Yes, Power Rangers movie. It will star a bunch of newcomer kids you probably haven't heard of—excepting frequent shower singer Becky G—and is written by the team that wrote The Last Witch Hunter. So, do with that what you will.)

Repulsa, you may remember, was the loudmouth space witch who, in the original 1990s TV series, wanted to take over the world.

She has been played by a number of actresses over the years, with American Barbara Goodson dubbing the voice in most instances.

Nineties kids: rejoice and... Make my monster grow!
