Sad news for sausage fans: two hot-dog restaurants in Soho have closed down

While Frenchies will be celebrating Bastille Day with cheese and red wine, the rest of the world will be celebrating National Hot Dog day on July 14.

It’s the perfect opportunity to stuff your face with London’s top dogs. But, in a cruel twist of topical fate, two of London’s leading hot-dog spots won’t be celebrating. Some of Soho's hautest dogs didn’t make the cut this year with Frith Street's Top Dog Diner and Newburgh Street's RockaDollar having whipped their weiners out for the last ever time.

Both had good reviews, and both followed in Herman Ze German’s footsteps by bringing sophistication to a dish previously best known for being rolled around on carts and sold to unsuspecting tourists soon to be well acquainted with their hotel toilet.

So it's sad that that unique toppings and intriguing concepts aren’t necessarily the recipe for success anymore. Don’t panic, though, London has plenty more hot dog places to try: Dirty Bones, Herman Ze German, Big Apple Hot Dogs – the list goes on, and so does your hunt for the best dog. Here boy!
