Questions about Time Out Black

How does Time Out Black work?

Once you have purchased membership, you will receive a welcome email with instructions on how to activate your membership and redeem your annual digital subscription to Time Out London via our app. You can then begin receiving benefits using your member ID in your app.

On becoming a member your membership is delivered directly into your app following activation. If you wish to purchase or gift a physical membership card this option is available at purchase. The physical membership card will be delivered within 14 days of purchase.

To redeem your 50% discount in participating restaurants, simply check the booking requirements on our website before you visit, then show either your physical card or your Membership ID in the Time Out London app upon arrival at the restaurant.

You’ll receive the weekly member newsletter containing new exclusive offers, invitations and discounts and news on our restaurant and events partners.

Use your unique member PIN code to book events and experiences. Tickets will be available to members on a first come, first served basis.

To claim an extra 10% discount on all Time Out Offers, ensure you are logged into the Time Out website: you will automatically be recognised as a member and the 10% discount on the offer will be applied at checkout.*

How often can I redeem benefits with Time Out Black?

You can use your membership as much as you like using your Digital Membership ID or physical membership card– there’s no limit on how many times you redeem the benefits in restaurants or venues. Just remember that certain offers are subject to availability or have specific times when they are valid as shown on our website.

Every week, we will send you our weekly edit of top picks of restaurant offers, upcoming membership screenings and exclusive events chosen just for you. Tickets are available on a first come, first served basis.

If you want to visit one of our selected restaurants and redeem your member discount, please refer to each restaurants booking terms before arrival and produce a valid membership card or you Digital Membership ID in the Time Out London app to redeem your discount.

How long is my Time Out Black membership valid?

Membership is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase.

How many people can benefit from the membership?

Membership is valid for the individual registered at time of purchase. Within your membership, there are benefits that can be enjoyed by the member and also by guests.

This entitlement depends on the individual offer or event (most vary from one to two tickets per member for an event or screening and a maximum table of four for restaurants).

Make sure you check the terms and conditions of each benefit or specific member offer.  

Can’t see Time Out Black in the app menu?

If you don’t have auto-updates switched on then you will need to manually update the Time Out app.

  • In the iOS App Store this is the ‘Updates’ tab.
  • In Android Play Store go to ‘My apps & games’ and our app will be listed at the top with all apps which have updates available.

 Note that our app will only run on iOS version 9 or 10. If you can’t see the update then go to ‘Settings > General > Software update’ to upgrade. 

How does gifting work?

The gift option includes the digital membership plus a personalised Time Out Black membership card.

When purchasing membership as a gift online, you will be prompted to give contact details for the gift recipient.

Once the purchase is processed, you will be given the option of sending the e-voucher to yourself or directly to the gift recipient.


The voucher email contains a unique code and step-by-step instructions, which detail how this code can be used to redeem the gift.

Who can I send the gift to?

You can choose either to send the gift voucher to yourself via email to pass on to the gift recipient, or send it directly to the recipient’s email. You’ll be asked during the checkout process which of these options you’d prefer.

It’s been over 24 hours and I still haven't received my gift voucher?

Why is it asking for my billing address when trying redeem my voucher?

Don’t worry, you won’t be asked for any payment details. This step is just to make sure the correct details are added to your Time Out user account.

Questions about the renewal

How do I renew my membership for Time Out Black?

One month before your membership is due to expire, we will send a reminder email to your registered Time Out Black email address inviting you to renew. 


You can also check the expiry date of your membership by logging into your Time Out user account on our website and selecting the ‘Time Out Black’ tab. A link to renew it will be included here if your membership is due to expire.

When can I renew my membership for Time Out Black?

You can renew your membership one month before your membership expires and anytime thereafter. If your membership has already expired, your new membership will start from the date you renew.

If my current membership is still valid can I renew now?

Yes, your new membership will start once your current membership expires.
