Spring break for kids in New York City has arrived! (The dates for spring break in 2014 for public school students are April 12 to April 22.) This year's spring break is especially exciting, as it will be the first substantial break since the summer during which kids will be able to enjoy the great outdoors without getting completely bundled up. Be sure to check out our comprehensive list of free and fun things to do over the break—we've got some for each and every day of the break—and our lineup of 11 great spring break camps. Families can use the time off from school to take part in special spring break museum programming, visit a new museum exhibit ("Pterosaurs: Flight in the Age of the Dinosaurs" at the American Museum of Natural History and "The Brooklyn Block Lab" at the Brooklyn Children's Museum; both open on Saturday, April 5), explore Central Park, or attend an Easter or Passover event. Looking to get out of town for a bit? We have ideas for day trips from New York City, including Legoland Discovery Center Westchester, which just celebrated its first anniversary. Happy spring break!
