Last night, silver-voiced English songstress Ellie Goulding charmed a full house at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. Concertgoers were among the first to hear a live performance of “Beating Heart,” one of her three contributions to the Divergent soundtrack (her oddly exoskeletal outfit may have been a nod to the upcoming film), and were also treated to covers of Elton John's “Your Song,” Alt-J's “Tessellate” and James Blake's “Life Round Here.” The off-record items meant she saved her most potent ammunition till the end, when the hits people came to hear (not least “Lights” and “Burn”) were fired out in quick succession.
