Singapore Changi Airport is Asia's best airport, but loses the world title to Hamad International Airport at this year's Skytrax World Airport Awards.
This is still an amazing achievement for our beloved airport, which has long dominated Skytrax's World's Best Airport category. It has won the title 12 times since the awards started in 1999, last winning first place in 2023. This year, it was also recognised as the Best Airport in Asia and the World's Best Airport Immigration Service. Besides Changi Airport's famous efficiency, it is also one of the few airports in the world that locals visit just for leisure, thanks to tons of dining and entertainment options throughout its terminals.
Qatar's Hamad International Airport clinched the World's Best Airport title this year. This is the third time it has snagged the crown, previously winning it in 2021 and 2022. Many from Singapore will know Doha Hamad as the gateway to Europe, for its efficient glass-roofed trains within the terminals, its impressive indoor tropical garden 'Orchard', and plethora of shopping dining options. No wonder it also won the awards for World’s Best Airport Shopping and the Best Airport in the Middle East.
This year marks the 25th anniversary of the World Airport Awards. The results are based on customer surveys which evaluate traveller experiences across a variety of airport touch points. Some topics that travellers are surveyed on include airport website experience, queuing times at immigration, clarity of boarding calls, shopping choices, and lost luggage services.
