The walk-around bar in this friendly bacaro fills up with cichetari (snacking locals) in the hour before lunch and evening meals. Tables take up two simply decorated rooms, and spill out on to the canalside walk in summer. The name means 'star anise', and spices do play a role in the kitchen, but there are also Venetian classics such as bigoli in salsa.
