A sort of high-class canteen, this big, bustling fish trattoria with its friendly (though brisk) service and fair-ish prices has been piling in locals and clued-up tourists for generations. While the cooking will win no prizes, it offers decent versions of such Venetian favourites as granseola and anguilla fritta (fried eel).

Very disappointing experience.
The army of waiters main aim seems to be to get you in, fed and out as quickly as possible to fill the table as many times as possible in a night. Most starters were already prepared and came to the table the moment we ordered, looked like they had been on the plate a couple of hours already. Plates were cleared away the moment we put down our forks and main courses arrived immediately and plates likewise whisked away promptly, dessert offered and when declined, bill immediately appeared. No sense of relaxing or enjoying the moment. The place was nowhere near full so why the horrible rush i don't know.
The Venetian style fish soup was like tinned broth with non descript white fish chunks in it. The fritta mista was horrible, mainly whitebait type fish, some chewy overcooked squid, two prawns, a few sardines and two small bony fish. Vegetables of the day were all out of a tin! The ravioli was average but nothing more.
The carafe of house white was like vinegar, the spritz flat and the coke came in the smallest bottles i've ever seen.
Worse still, even though we were treated politely the Japanese couple next to us were treated with a hostile discourtesy that made us embarrassed and very uncomfortable. very unpleasant indeed.
€68 for soup, ravioli, fried fish, tinned veg, two tiny Cokes, a flat Spritz and a small carafe of wine. There are worse places in Venice but also much better. Avoid.
