Budapest, 29 July 2025 - Time Out Market Budapest – the first of its kind to launch in Central & Eastern Europe – has today revealed the latest additions to its impressive lineup of local culinary talents. Set to open later this year, the food and cultural market will bring the best of the city – and beyond – together under one roof: a curated mix of the best chefs and restaurateurs, drinks and cultural experiences – showcasing top local talents and making them accessible in a casual, uniquely designed space.

Located in Corvin Palace, Time Out Market Budapest will welcome guests across nearly 2,500 square metres. It will feature eleven award-winning and up-and-coming local chefs and restaurants, each offering the very best of their cuisine to entice visitors with exquisite dishes. The Market will also feature three bars, five event spaces, and approximately 540 seats, creating a buzzing and versatile space. Communal tables, open kitchens, and a thoughtfully designed interior will foster a cosy atmosphere where families, groups of friends and solo visitors can get together and feel at home. Time Out Market is not just a culinary destination but a vibrant, living community space. With a year-round calendar of dynamic cultural programmes, it will offer accessible and affordable experiences for everyone, enriching day-to-day life in Budapest.

The pre-opening campaign for Time Out Market Budapest celebrates its neighbourhood, long known as the city’s cultural heartbeat. The campaign concept bridges iconic local figures of the past with contemporary talents shaping Budapest’s culinary and cultural scene today. At the heart of this campaign narrative are the chefs, talents and creative contributors of Time Out Market Budapest, as well as the campaign’s featured 'modern muses', Barbara Schoblocher, lead singer of the band Blahalouisiana; actress Franciska Törőcsik; Roland 'Wolfie' Farkas, co-founder of Punnany Massif; and gastronomy expert András Hering. They will all share their personal stories around the city’s vibrant spirit, the Time Out Market experience, and their passion for food and culture.

With four chefs and restaurateurs already announced, more culinary top talents have been revealed today to complement Time Out Market Budapest’s stellar roster, serving a diverse range of cuisines:

Chef István Pesti will serve traditional Hungarian flavours with CANTEEN – a new exclusive concept for Time Out Market Budapest

Chef István Pesti is the only Hungarian chef outside of Budapest, in a countryside restaurant, who has earned two Michelin stars. This exceptional international recognition makes him a key player at Time Out Market Budapest, where he has created a new concept exclusively for the Market. CANTEEN doesn't offer a fine dining experience; instead it brings traditional Hungarian flavours into a modern, urban space. "At my Platán Gourmet restaurant in Tata, I showcase a different side of Hungarian cuisine — it's more abstract and innovative there. However, I've always felt there's a huge demand for traditional Hungarian dishes too — the kind our grandmothers used to cook, evoking childhood memories. I wanted to bring these classic, homemade, high-quality flavours, cooked with heart and memories," explains István Pesti. The CANTEEN menu features popular dishes such as goulash soup, Wiener (veal) schnitzel, and chicken paprikash, with a classic apple pie providing the perfect finish.

Casa Christa brings a taste of Lake Balaton to Time Out Market Budapest

Casa Christa arrives in the heart of the capital from one of the most beloved corners of the Hungarian countryside, bringing the essence of lakeside moments to Time Out Market Budapest. Alongside iconic Hungarian dishes, the menu showcases the distinctive flavours of the Balaton Uplands, from fresh fish and regional specialties to reinvented classics made with ingredients from local producers. Every plate at Casa Christa evokes an atmosphere: sun-drenched hills, wine cellars, seasonal ingredients fresh from the market, and the cherished memories of shared meals.

Bigfish is where sea breeze meets city buzz

Bigfish infuses the culinary scene of Time Out Market Budapest with the freshness of the ocean and the laid-back spirit of the seaside. The menu features a refined selection of seasonally-sourced seafood and rare, hard-to-find fish alongside beloved classics. Behind the brand stands a true heavyweight – Hungary’s largest seafood importer and wholesaler – ensuring that every dish is crafted from the freshest, carefully selected ingredients. One of the true highlights is the sushi selection which brings the essence of Japanese cuisine to the heart of Budapest with its uncompromising freshness and precision. The fish used for sushi is sourced directly from Europe’s most renowned fish markets, delivering a taste that reflects both quality and deep respect for the ocean. The experience is further elevated by freshly shucked oysters and Bigfish’s iconic fish & chips – served with golden, crispy fries and flaky, tender fish, capturing the soul of this British classic with the finest ingredients.

Tuning Burger brings a world-class burger experience, gourmet style to the Market

At Tuning Burger, local flavours meet premium quality, redefining the Hungarian burger scene — and now, it is bringing its exceptional creations to Time Out Market. The key to the fantastic taste lies in the expertly selected meat patties, made from cuts aged for up to two to three weeks, house-made sauces based on original recipes, and artisanal burger buns. Highlights include high-quality cuts like Hungarian Grey Cattle, Angus from Hortobágy, Omaha beef, and the world-renowned Wagyu – each delivering unforgettable bites. The menu also features some of the brand’s signature creations that have already captured the hearts of countless burger enthusiasts, including the mango chutney burger, the iconic umami burger, and the award-winning Leicester burger, which won the title of “Hungary’s Best Burger” in 2016.

One Counter, 22 Wine Regions, and Endless Experiences at the Wines of Hungary Bar

The Hungarian Wine Marketing Agency will curate a unique selection that elevates the beverage offering at Time Out Market, showcasing the richness of Hungary’s wine culture. At the dedicated wine bar, guests can discover wines from all 22 Hungarian wine regions, guided by expert sommeliers who provide personalised recommendations and in-depth background information. The selection ranges from iconic varietals to new favourites, thoughtfully assembled to offer a memorable experience for both seasoned wine lovers and those just beginning to explore Hungarian wines. Monthly themed tasting events complete the experience, offering participants the chance to delve deeper into the world of wine through engaging stories and exciting discoveries. This wine selection provides a one-of-a-kind opportunity for guests to journey through the Hungarian landscape with every sip, whilst exploring the intersection of tradition and innovation in local winemaking.

Olivér Balogh, Owner of Time Out Market Budapest, said:

"We are incredibly proud to bring together not only the best of Budapest, but the very best of Hungary under one roof at Time Out Market Budapest. Our mission is to celebrate the diversity of our city’s and Hungarian gastronomy at an affordable price – and that wouldn’t be complete without a strong presence from beyond the capital including Casa Christa from Lake Balaton and its award-winning chef, Keve Tóth. Equally essential is the inclusion of Pesti István, whose two-Michelin-starred Platán Gourmet has set new standards for fine dining outside of Budapest. His new concept exclusively available at Time Out Market, CANTEEN by Pesti István, brings this excellence into an accessible, casual format. Tuning Burger has been the mainstay of the Hungarian burger scene for the last decade, while Bigfish continues to raise the bar for seafood. We’re also excited to showcase the many faces of Hungarian wine through Wines of Hungary, offering our customers an unprecedented opportunity to try Hungarian wines from all over the country."

More Time Out Market Budapest vendors, the opening date and how culture will be part of the experience, will be announced in the lead up to the opening – the following vendors have already been announced:

  • The Italian cuisine of Anyukám Mondta will bring decades of passion and family tradition to Time Out Market Budapest
