Time Out raises a glass to the world’s best bars, brilliant bartenders and top-notch venues with 2017 Bar Awards

Time Out, the leading global media and entertainment brand that inspires and enables people to make the most of the city, has popped the cork on its second annual Bar Awards to celebrate the best places to drink, the most outstanding bar teams and extravagant bar designs in eight vibrant cities around the world.

This year, the Time Out Bar Awards are taking place in in NYC, Chicago, L.A., Miami, Austin, Paris, Lisbon and London where the shortlists have just been announced, revealing venues with bold innovation, extraordinary design and infinite creativity.

Time Out has assembled the best of the bar world in an industry-renowned panel of judges including experts, award-winning bartenders, industry legends and Time Out’s own editorial team. The panelists have selected the shortlist of finalists and will vote for the winners which will be announced at a series of swanky celebratory events throughout May and June across all of the eight cities.

This year’s expert panels were tasked with shortlisting their standout bars and bartenders across global categories such as Bar of the Year, Best New Bar, Best Bar Team, Best Bar Design, Best Single-Focus Bar and Most Creative Drinks List. In addition to these, Time Out also selected additional award categories tailored to the local nuances of a city’s bar scene.

The awards programme connects drinks brands, industry influencers, bartenders, venue owners and ambassadors with Time Out’s bar-loving audience, made up of people who go out for a drink on average ten times a month in the UK* and in the U.S.** hit the bar on average 67 times per.

Time Out has been the authority on city living since 1968, seeking out the brilliant in the world’s best cities – and bars have always been a central part of that. The Bar Awards program brings together expert curated content about bar and drink trends across Time Out’s digital, social, print and event channels, creating a tailored and impactful platform for brand partners and local businesses.
