What’s the vibe?
Elevated Greek cuisine that earned it a Michelin star already in its very first year, Makris Athens is located in the city’s historic center, over the ruins of ancient Athens. From the balcony, you can see the Acropolis.
What are the prices like?
There are three options for the tasting menu: Genesis (€95 per person), Utopia (€148 per person) and Physis Vegan (€88 per person). You can also choose the drink pairings (wine, cocktails or soft drinks) which range from €50 to €200.
What should I order?
You’re permitted to bypass the tasting menu for à la carte. If so, I’d recommend the red Hellenic shrimp with kharmani Persian ossetra caviar and carrot for starter, the red mullet cooked with its scales for main, and the lemon dessert.
What’s worth visiting nearby?
The restaurant is between the Monastiraki square and Thiseio neighborhood, an area full of cafes, and it’s also right near some excellent vintage and antique shops. A stroll around the area to get the feeling of old Athens is mandatory.
