Dating back to the early 1900s, the negroni's roots are most likely to come from Italy, when a bartender was asked to make a stronger version of an Americano. But one of the earliest mentions we're certain of is from actor Orson Welles in 1947 to the Coshocton Tribune. "The bitters are excellent for your liver, the gin is bad for you," Welles said. "They balance each other." The gin and bitters cocktail has made its way into the hearts of many and is simple enough to make at home. 2 oz of gin
1 oz Campari
1 oz sweet vermouth
Combine all ingredients and stir with ice. Strain into glass of choice and garnish with an orange peel.
