C.W. Stoneking

In his breakthrough LP 'Jungle Blues' (2008), high-grade eccentric Stoneking pitched himself somewhere between Tom Waits and a mournful delta bluesman from the 1920s. He sounded a hundred years old, but he was only in his mid-thirties – and Australian. His new release 'Gon' Boogaloo' is another carefully crafted slice of vintage Americana, but the banjo and folk balladeering have been ditched in favour of electric guitars and gospel-fuelled rock. Which bodes well for this show.
