The Sissy's Progress

Combining installation, dance-theatre and a walking performance with a live marching band, this piece from Nando Messias has been under construction for the last few years. Following a homophobic attack on him where he was beaten up on the street, Messias began planning his response, resulting in this performance exploring the violence of the city and the contradictions of gender politics. This event is part of the SHOUT festival programme taking place across Birmingham.
