The three crystalline towers of The Langham Gold Coast are like jewels in the Surfers Paradise skyline, but it’s not just the exterior that brings diamonds to mind. This modern, five-star resort, complete with an award-winning day spa and health club, two swimming pools, six dining venues and panoramic ocean views, delivers an equally high-carat experience once you cross the threshold.
When The Langham welcomed its first guests in June 2022, it marked the first luxury beachfront hotel debut on the Gold Coast in more than three decades. Three years on, we can confirm that it's still shining just as brightly as on day one.
Why stay at The Langham Gold Coast?
I caught my first glimpse of The Langham long before I arrived at its doorstep. Its three glistening towers stand loud and proud between Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach, with the two outer towers housing 170 ‘Jewel Residences’ (think luxury serviced apartments) and the tallest, central tower boasting 169 rooms and suites.
But you’re paying for far more than just a place to sleep. This luxe hotel is home to six standout dining and drinking experiences, including a signature beachfront restaurant, a Michelin-starred Cantonese fine diner, a fancy high tea haven and a lively outdoor pool bar. Then there’s the luxurious wellness centre on level two, featuring an indoor magnesium pool, a multi-purpose health studio and a fancy day spa. Plus, with the beach just steps away, it doesn’t get much better than this.
What are the rooms like at The Langham Gold Coast?
At The Langham, you can choose from four room types, five suite options, or one-to-four bedroom apartments in the Jewel Residences, each offering either ocean or Hinterland views. I was lucky enough to stay in a Deluxe Skyline Ocean Room on level 15, and wow — the moment I entered, my jaw dropped. Automatic blackout blinds slowly parted to reveal the glittering Pacific Ocean, stretching as far as the eye could see. With comfy outdoor lounges on the balcony and a twin-seat indoor table, there were plenty of spots to kick back and soak in the stunning sea vistas. And I honestly could have watched the waves crash on the powdery white sands from sunrise to sunset, if it weren’t for the cloud-like bed awaiting me.
Every corner of my room was dressed to impress in soothing shades of white, cream and grey. Touches of blue subtly highlight The Langham’s million-dollar seaside setting, with sweeping views maximised by the expansive floor-to-ceiling glass windows.
Along with the signature Langham Blissful Bed, my room featured a 50-inch television, a Nespresso coffee machine, a fully-stocked mini bar and all the mod cons I could ever wish for. The marble bathroom was just as luxurious, fragranced by Diptyque toiletries and complete with a massive oval-shaped bathtub and separate rain shower. Fluffy robes and plush slippers came in handy for trips to the sauna, while the beach towels made a quick dash to the pool super convenient.
Which are the best restaurants and bars at The Langham Gold Coast?
On the ground floor, you’ll find the casually cool Lobby Bar, perfect for light bites and bevs; the elegant Palm Court, where The Langham hosts its timeless Afternoon Tea; and Akoya; a stunning all-day sea-to-spoon eatery that offers a world-class buffet breakfast. For those extra special occasions, head to Cantonese fine diner, T’ang Court – the first venue for the Michelin-star restaurant group in Australia.
Just steps from the sand, The Langham’s 26 & Sunny is a local hotspot for classic Aussie beach fare (hot chips, burgers, fish and chips, salads), plus grab-and-go juices or coffee. And don’t miss the swim-up Pool Bar, where you can sip a Spritz and enjoy light bites while soaking up the sun in the lagoon.
What is the service like at The Langham Gold Coast?
Like all of The Langham’s properties around the world, the service here is simply unbeatable. A sharply dressed concierge greets every guest at the door, ready to assist with parking, transportation or luggage.
At reception, a friendly staff member in a smart pastel blue suit welcomes me and gives a quick walkthrough of the property – handy, since finding the right elevator to your room or parking level can sometimes be tricky. That same high level of personalised service continues throughout my stay, making every moment effortless and welcoming.
What is the pool like at The Langham Gold Coast?
I could have very happily spent my whole weekend on the Gold Coast without ever leaving The Langham. When the sun comes out to play, I suggest heading outside to the peaceful lagoon where you can move seamlessly from the water to the swim-up bar to the plush poolside lounges.
If the weather is playing up – a rare occurrence on the GC – float upstairs to The Langham’s luxurious wellness centre on level two. Warm up in one of the steamy sauna rooms or drift away in the diamond-shaped indoor magnesium pool.
What is the gym like at The Langham Gold Coast?
The Health Club on level two is more like a super-luxe gym, located right near the magnesium pool and saunas. A long stretch of Life Fitness cardio machines faces the windows with sparkling beach views (the best distraction for any sweat session). There’s also a huge range of strength machines and free weights, plus a dedicated multi-purpose health studio where you can take virtual classes, like yoga and pilates.
What is the spa like at The Langham Gold Coast?
For an extra touch of luxury, visit the award-winning Chuan Spa for treatments inspired by centuries-old traditional Chinese medicine, including hot stone therapy, white clay facials and mud wraps.
