A bold and hard-hitting new project from the National Theatre of Scotland.

Partnering with Mayfest, Tobacco Factory Theatres welcomes the inimitable National Theatre of Scotland to the stage with 'Rites', a provocative new show that explores contentious practice of female genital mutilation.

Based on interviews and true stories of girls affected here in the UK, the production looks at the perspective of mothers under pressure to continue the practice, alongside various midwives, lawyers, police officers, teachers and health workers who are trying to bring about change in communities.
