Agustín Neglia, the well-known host and producer from Mendoza who carved his own place in travel television, rose to fame with Modo Selfie (América TV), a pioneering format in Argentina that shows him exploring the world with a handheld camera, selfie-style, offering a close and spontaneous perspective. His series Super Guide is now available on Amazon Prime, condensing his explorations into a practical, visual guide for the modern traveler.

“Tino,” as he’s called, has a sharp entrepreneurial vision: after roles at Chile’s Mercurio and Televisa, he left it all behind to found his own production company and take full control of his projects.

Splitting his week between Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, and Cariló, Agustín spends much of his time behind the wheel. The first few days he’s in Mar del Plata, then he drives up to Buenos Aires, and ends the weekend in Cariló, his favorite spot. “Cariló is the place I love the most: the peace, the food scene… It gives me calm,” he says.

He continues hosting Modo Selfie, the travel show that made him a household name, and just premiered Super Guide on Amazon Prime. The series, now streaming, compiles his most recent years of travel and offers “a super guide with the best spots to eat and the most Instagrammable corners. We structured it that way so people can travel more easily.” Originally shot in horizontal format for TV, it’s also adapted to vertical, designed for the fast-paced world of social media.

Although he calls himself a host, he admits that in this era it’s the audience that defines your place. “Amazon gives me visibility, but I also want to try new things,” he says.

His passion for travel began as a career move in TV. “I grew fond of flying—I relax on planes, and ideas always come to me up there. I like arriving at a destination without researching too much beforehand, so it surprises me.” That’s how he created Modo Selfie, which started in Mendoza, grew independently, and remains that way. “We’re a self-run production company. We pick the destination, shoot three places in a ten-day trip, and each episode is filmed in one day. I shoot with a reflex camera, and my team is top-notch,” he explains.

That independence comes with its ups and downs. “The best part is freedom: you set your own schedule and protect what makes you happy. The hardest part is sustaining it, finding sponsors, organizing everything. But the audience supports me, brands are there, and that allows us to continue.”

At the same time, he’s developing a project unrelated to television but tied to another passion: a platform for brokering the purchase and sale of classic cars, planes, and boats. “Nothing concrete yet, but it’s in the works,” he reveals.

After so many miles traveled, what he values most is simplicity: “Happiness is in the simple things. I could be in the place I dreamed of all my life or just sitting on the curb of my neighborhood drinking mate with a friend, and that moment could be the most magical.” Among his most impactful trips, he names Japan. “The Japanese are incredible hosts and perfectionists, yet also very warm. You learn a lot from them.”

And, as a true Mendoza native, he carries more than just memories from home: he also brings scents. “I have a little tin with jarilla that I treat like gold. When I have people over, I burn a twig and start talking about Mendoza.” He even takes on the role of informal ambassador: “Mendoza is a tourism beacon. We Mendocinos need to be aware of what we have.”

On a personal note, he says he’s found balance, something that wasn’t easy at first. “With Mariana, who I’m marrying in October, everything flows. Sometimes she comes along, sometimes not, but the key is surrounding yourself with the right people.” Though he enjoys the thrill of his current lifestyle, he imagines a future with less travel. “I see myself producing more specific projects, not traveling as much as before. Mendoza is definitely on the list.”

In every answer, “Tino” makes it clear that his compass doesn’t just point to exotic destinations, but to meaningful moments worth keeping. Between premieres, projects, and new horizons, his map always has one permanent return point: Mendoza—with its jarilla, its people, and that calm you won’t find in any airport in the world.
