Ski season 2025: what to do in Las Leñas

After a particularly warm autumn, snowfall was delayed, forcing a later season start. However, dropping temperatures allowed for artificial snowmaking—thanks to systems developed by the resort over the years—and finally, the much-awaited natural snowfall completed the perfect scenario. Thus, on June 28, the 2025 season officially began, with part of the skiable terrain already open.

We spoke with Fernando Passano, mountain activities manager, who shared an initial assessment of the season start and expectations for the coming days: “We had a pretty warm autumn, but when temperatures dropped, we could make artificial snow and also had more significant natural snowfall. That allowed us to start the season with sector 1 open,” he highlights.

For now, sector 1 and the Eros 1 and Eros 2 lifts are open to the public, allowing visitors to enjoy several slopes and activities. The resort has three main sectors, and as weather conditions permit, the remaining areas will be opened. For those planning their trip, a useful tip: Las Leñas updates the status of slopes and lifts daily on its official social media and website, where you can follow the season’s progress and better organize your visit.

A key detail to keep in mind is that during the entire winter, it is mandatory to carry tire chains to travel the access road—an important safety measure for high mountain routes.

What to do in Las Leñas besides skiing?

Not everything in Las Leñas revolves around skiing. Every year, the number of visitors who come to enjoy the snow without practicing a winter sport grows. This new tourist profile increasingly finds proposals designed for enjoying the pace of leisure, with recreational activities, nature contact, hikes, and good cuisine.

One of the most valued spots for this audience is the Adventure Park, located near the resort entrance. It’s ideal for spending the day outdoors without needing equipment or prior experience. There, you can rent clothing and sleds, use restrooms, relax in dining areas, and of course, enjoy the snow. The park was inaugurated last season but was expanded this year in both area and infrastructure, including the parking lot. The sledding track is one of the main attractions, especially for families traveling with children.

For those wanting a closer mountain experience, an original proposal added this year to the winter program is the snowshoe excursion to the Enchanted Forest. It’s a group hike with professional guides where visitors wear special snowshoes to comfortably walk over the snow. It’s an accessible activity that requires no physical preparation and opens the door to a natural corner accessible only this way. “We always offered this experience out of season, but this year we incorporated it into winter,” says Passano. It’s highly valued by those seeking direct contact with nature—no skiing, just walking and taking in the views.

Additionally, for those who simply want to enjoy the views without physical effort, the Vespa chairlift is open to pedestrians, allowing them to ascend and admire the mountains from above, take photos, and enjoy the fresh air. A perfect alternative for day visitors or those accompanying skiers.
