From October 16 to 19, MUBI FEST 2025 arrives in Buenos Aires, with Cinépolis Houssay as its main venue and special activities at the Recoleta Cultural Center and Strange Brewing. Don’t panic! Ticket sales for the festival will open next week at mubifest.com.
This edition features the Argentine premieres of Cannes-acclaimed films It Was Just an Accident, Sentimental Value, El Agente Secreto and Alpha, along with a selection of new releases, cult classics, Argentine cinema, and free cultural programs.

And watch out for exclusive highlights: the Argentine premiere of the latest film by Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi, winner of the 2025 Palme d’Or in Cannes, plus an immersive activation inspired by the universe of Twin Peaks that will culminate in a free screening of the series pilot at Recoleta. Add to that 4K restorations of classics, tributes to Argentine cinema, live music, and even a limited-edition beer created for the festival.

Jafar Panahi’s film premieres in Buenos Aires
This edition of MUBI FEST 2025 will host the Argentine premiere of It Was Just an Accident, the new film by Iranian director Jafar Panahi, one of the most influential names in contemporary cinema, fresh from his Palme d’Or victory at Cannes.

Twin Peaks at Recoleta: immersive experience and free screening
The festival presents Presentes Pasados, an art installation by Valentina Herrera Gentile with music by Uriel Durán (OME), inspired by the symbolic universe of Twin Peaks. It will be open from October 16 to 19 at the Recoleta Cultural Center and will close on Sunday the 19th with a free open-air screening of David Lynch’s pilot episode.

Argentine cinema at MUBI FEST 2025
This edition also pays tribute to national cinema with screenings of Juan Moreira by Leonardo Favio and Bolivia by Adrián Caetano, followed by talks with Florencia Halfon, Fito Mendonça Paz, and Caetano himself.
