Some experiences begin long before the first bite. At O-Satori, the prelude unfolds on the 23rd floor of the Marriott Buenos Aires Downtown Hotel, where the frenetic pulse of 9 de Julio Avenue transforms into a silent spectacle of lights and historic domes.
The evening welcomed us by the hotel’s heated pool, where—cocktail in hand—we set out to rediscover Buenos Aires architecture. Between stories about the domes surrounding us and the imposing presence of the Teatro Colón just steps away, it became clear that O-Satori is not only a restaurant, but also a privileged viewpoint.
14 seats and a 10-course journey
Once inside the dining room, the experience turns intimate. A counter designed for just 14 guests allows the omakase ritual—where the chef cooks according to their own selection, right before your eyes—to take center stage.
We began with the Patagonian Awakening (trout cured in lime salt and matcha) and the Nikkei Panther, a sashimi with a pisco sour foam that cleanses the palate with elegant acidity. Then came a play of textures between the Andean Takoyaki (baby squid with smoked huancaína) and the Obsidian Tempura (black tempura shrimp with a touch of habanero), marking the peaks of intensity and heat throughout the night. Next was Fire and Mist: a seared salmon tataki with sesame, pink grapefruit, smoked sauce, and yakiniku, with a distinctly smoky profile.

The climax arrived just before the sweet finale with the Shōgun Magret—a duck nigiri with grape teriyaki and burnt orange—which drew unanimous praise for its depth of flavor and caramelization. To close, we enjoyed a dessert as original as it was memorable: the Sweet Karesansui, a true edible zen garden featuring chocolate “stones,” jasmine sponge cake, and matcha sugar, inviting a contemplative pause before returning to reality.
The evening, paired with wines from Catena Zapata, ranged from the freshness of Angélica Zapata Chardonnay to the complexity of a D.V. Catena Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, which accompanied the most intense moments of the night.
O-Satori offers evenings in a five-star hotel that combine high-end Japanese cuisine, urban history, and open views in a sensory experience designed to rediscover the city from a different perspective.
