Known as the “green gold,” pistachio continues to take center stage in cafés, pastry shops, and bistros across the City of Buenos Aires. More than just a passing trend, it has firmly established itself as a favorite ingredient on the sweet scene. Its intense flavor, unmistakable color, and versatility have kept it in the spotlight—earning it its very own World Day every February 26.

To celebrate the nut with the biggest fan base, we recommend four places in the City of Buenos Aires where pistachio shines in cannoli, cakes, brownies, and other delights. Sweet, creative, and absolutely irresistible options to pay tribute to it.

1. Café Vespress

Literally, it’s the pistachio paradise in Buenos Aires. Café Vespress is so passionate about pistachios that they even created a little icon to declare their unconditional love, calling it the “patron of pastry.”

At both of their locations, you can find cannolis, brioche, chocolates, biscottis, and many more options filled with the creamiest pistachio. To celebrate the day, they'll have discounts on more than 20 pistachio-based products and will unveil a new surprise creation, which they hint will be in the form of "bites." You’ll have to go try it!

2. Barragán Lonchería y Café

Barragán, the first Mexican lunch spot in Buenos Aires, joins the celebrations with an exclusive three-milk cake with a unique taste and texture. The cake is filled with pistachio pastry cream, pistachio meringue, and roasted pistachios. Yes, a pistachio triple threat!

In this modern version, the moist sponge of the iconic cake is filled with pistachio pastry cream, covered with an Italian meringue enriched with pistachio paste, and topped with chopped pistachios.

This reinterpretation of the classic Latin American dessert can be enjoyed at their two locations in the neighborhoods of Caballito and Palermo, both with outdoor seating to enjoy.

3. Malvón

The classic café in Villa Crespo presents four sweet options where pistachio takes center stage. At Malvón, you can choose between a croissant filled with homemade pistachio cream and a raspberry center; a cheesecake with a crunchy base topped with an intense, enveloping pistachio cream; and a sablée alfajor filled with white chocolate and lime ganache, edged with toasted, lightly salted pistachios.

These three items will be available from February 26, World Pistachio Day, through March 1. But this ingredient goes beyond the celebration at Malvón, with a proposal that’s here to stay on the menu: an artisanal puff pastry roll filled with pistachio and homemade pistachio cream, plus candied orange. It’s topped with white chocolate and finished with a sprinkle of ground pistachio.

4. Avito

Transformed into a true gastronomic hub, the elegant bistro led by Julio Figueroa in a former convent in the Devoto neighborhood offers several ways to honor pistachio on its special day. Among them is the Dubai brownie, featuring dark chocolate ganache, pistachio paste, kadaif, and a white chocolate coating generously topped with this nut.

You can also indulge in homemade lemon cookies with chunks of toasted pistachios, boasting a crisp exterior and a soft, moist center; or enjoy a delicate and fresh sablée alfajor with pistachios, white chocolate ganache filled with lemon curd, and plenty of crushed pistachios around the edges.

Where: Pareja 3670.
