The musical theatre scene in Buenos Aires is taking some pretty diverse paths this season: there's rock, opera, reimagined classics, comedy, love stories and characters confronting their own ghosts. Rather than big-budget productions, the city is seeing shows that move away from the genre's most predictable formulas and explore different intersections between music and theatre. Some opt for intimate formats, while others mix different forms—from concerts to music hall, performance art to comedy—to tell stories from unexpected perspectives. La cartelera de musicales porteña de esta temporada se mueve por caminos bastante diversos: hay rock, ópera, clásicos revisitados, humor, historias de amor y personajes que se enfrentan a sus propios fantasmas. Más que grandes superproducciones, aparecen propuestas que buscan correrse de los lugares más previsibles del género y explorar distintos cruces entre música y teatro. Dramas, comedies, one-person shows, musicals. Premieres and revivals. Classics or avant-garde productions. On Corrientes Avenue, theater is in the air and there is something for every taste. Walking into Regina Bistró feels like discovering a restaurant that understands something that can be surprisingly hard to find: dining out can also mean letting yourself be guided by the experience. Located in one of the spaces along La Recova de Posadas, surrounded by arches and wide sidewalks, the restaurant carries that aesthetic indoors with a bright, elegant and welcoming dining room. But what truly defines the experience is what arrives at the table: a menu of European classics, generous portions and a wide enough selection to make you want to come back and try something different. We went to check it out and took the advice of Oscar, the waiter who welcomed us with a question as simple as it was effective: “What are you in the mood for?” Between chicken so tender you can cut it with a spoon, truffle pasta and a Café de Paris ribeye, the answer came fairly easily. Regina BistróRestaurante The menu looks to the classics without getting stuck in nostalgia. France, Italy and Spain all feature in an extensive offering that ranges from bistro dishes to pasta, fish, meat, rice dishes and European desserts. We followed Oscar’s recommendations and started with jamón crudo with gnocco fritto and prawns. There are several options to share from the outset, including anchovies with tomato or boquerones, marinated black olives and oysters, as well as starters such as vitel toné, caponata with stracciatella and grilled baby squid. Back in the day, if you wanted something that had spent hours in the oven, all you had to do was head to the neighborhood rotisserie. You would order a portion of meat, a side dish or two, and head home with a still-warm tray. Cocinando al Kamado brings back that idea, but replaces the old oven with a kamado and makes long cooking times its main calling card. KamadoCostillar The heavy steer beef ribs are the star of the show. They spend hours in the kamado, at a low temperature and with gentle smoke, until they reach a texture that practically falls apart when you cut into them. There is also pork shoulder glazed with teriyaki and honey, pork ribs and a selection of side dishes, including a standout sweet potato purée. Everything is slow-cooked and delivered from a dark kitchen in Villa Crespo. The concept behind Cocinando al Kamado has something of that classic neighborhood rotisserie: food that takes time to prepare, that you buy to take home and that doesn't need much ceremony to become lunch or dinner. The difference lies in where it all begins: instead of the rotisserie oven, there is a kamado that works as a grill, oven and smoker. And that's the key to its success. Octubre llega con una cartelera de teatro off que tiene un poco de todo: familias al borde del colapso, personajes que cargan con su pasado, historias de  Argentina, vínculos difíciles y situaciones que se van de las manos. También hay lugar para el absurdo, la comedia y esas obras que empiezan por un lado y terminan llevándote por otro. En esta selección reunimos 20 obras de teatro off para ver durante el mes, en salas de distintos barrios porteños y con propuestas para salir de la rutina —y, de paso, de la cartelera de siempre.

Entrar a Regina Bistró es encontrarse con un restaurante que parece haber entendido algo que no siempre es fácil de encontrar: que salir a comer también puede ser dejarse llevar. Está en uno de los locales de la Recova de Posadas, rodeado de arcos y veredas amplias, y puertas adentro continúa esa estética con un salón luminoso, elegante y cálido. Pero si hay algo que termina de definir la experiencia, está en la mesa: una cocina de clásicos europeos, platos generosos y una propuesta lo suficientemente extensa como para querer volver y probar otro camino. Fuimos a conocerlo y nos dejamos aconsejar por Oscar, el mozo que nos recibió con una pregunta tan simple como efectiva: “¿Qué tienen ganas de comer?”. Entre pollo que se corta con cuchara, pastas con trufa y un ojo de bife Café de París, la respuesta fue bastante fácil de encontrar. Regina BistróRestaurante La carta mira hacia los clásicos, pero sin quedarse en la nostalgia. Francia, Italia y España aparecen en una propuesta amplia que va desde platos de bistró hasta pastas, pescados, carnes, arroces y postres europeos. Nos dejamos aconsejar por Oscar y arrancamos con jamón crudo con gnocco fritto y langostinos. Hay varias opciones para compartir desde el comienzo: anchoas con tomate o con boquerón, aceitunas negras marinadas y ostras, además de entradas como vitel toné, caponata con stracciatella y chipirones a la plancha.
