3. ARA Sarmiento Frigate

Built in 1897, it was one of the most advanced frigates of its time. It completed 37 voyages around the world until 1938 and later served as a training ship in national waters until 1960.

The ship represented Argentina at many official events, including the coronation of King Edward VII of the United Kingdom in 1902, the centennial celebration of Mexico’s Independence in 1910, the opening of the Panama Canal in 1914, and the inauguration of the statue of General San Martín in Boulogne-sur-Mer, France, in 1909. It was declared a National Historic Monument and is now a museum of voyages and missions.

Visitors can explore everything from cabins to the engine room, learning about adventures around the world. Kids love discovering what a real ship looks like.

4. Benito Quinquela Martín Museum

This building was once the home and studio of the renowned La Boca artist, who donated it to his neighborhood to create a cultural hub. It is painted in bright colors, as is the sidewalk facing the Riachuelo.

The museum houses the largest collection of Quinquela Martín’s oil paintings, an Argentine Art exhibition, one of the most important figurehead collections in Latin America, a sculpture courtyard and the artist’s house-museum with personal objects.

Next door is the Teatro de la Ribera, featuring murals that reflect everyday life in the Buenos Aires port neighborhood. Today it is a multidisciplinary venue with theater productions, tango shows and photography exhibitions.

Here, children can approach Argentine art through vibrant visuals and eye-catching elements. There’s also a space where they can draw what they see in the museum. Its proximity to the colorful Caminito street makes it easy to combine with an outdoor stroll.

5. Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires (MAMBA)
