In the autumn-winter season, indoor plans become part of the routine. Family lunches at home, Saturday movie nights on the couch, and more. At Time Out, we believe going out always adds something extra, whether it's discovering new places or trying flavors we can’t quite achieve at home.

In this article, we propose some bistros, restaurants, and small bars where going out in the winter feels just right: they are cozy, bright, with windows to peek at what's happening outside, and offer exquisite food.

1. La Cabrera

This is a gastronomic experience that everyone should have at least once in their life. The ambiance of the flagship location in Palermo is the perfect blend of elegance and informality. It's like a classic Buenos Aires bistro, with details that transport you straight to a café in the heart of Paris.

Frequently ranked among the best restaurants in the world, this parrilla – which is part of our list of the best in Buenos Aires – offers something good from every section of the menu. Of course, the grilled meats take center stage. A good bife de chorizo or something more innovative like pork shoulder with bacon can be paired with an Imperial Golden beer to refresh and balance the flavors.

Tip: You can make reservations at this link. Every day, from 6:30 to 8:00 pm, there’s a 30% discount on the entire menu.

Where: José Antonio Cabrera 5127, Palermo.

2. La Biela

At this place, something as simple as a regular lunch or a morning coffee becomes epic. Not only is it known for its history and status as a Notable Bar of the city, but also for its decoration, windows, and its location on one of the most important corners in the heart of Recoleta.

The images of Bioy Casares and Borges greet visitors, who feel like they’ve entered a time tunnel framed by wooden columns, lamps, and antique objects. The menu is quite varied, though some house specialties include gramajo eggs (with potatoes and ham) and Spanish tortilla with chorizo.

Tip: They offer delivery and takeout so you can enjoy it at home.

3. Ditta

For those who prefer intimate dinner spots with low lighting, this place is sure to tempt you. Ditta is a botanical bar with a counter that spans nearly an entire wall, neon signs, dim lighting, and decor dominated by mirrors and plants.

Located on the second floor of Ramos Mejía, it's an ideal spot for a dinner with friends or a date. It could also be a good option for birthday celebrations, like these other places we recommend. The menu is varied, offering shareable plates, classic options like burgers and milanesa (with fettuccine, of course). What tempted us were the croquettes with prosciutto, pesto, and basil – perfect as an appetizer, followed by something heartier like milanesa with fettuccine or a pizza to share.

Where: Rosales 215, Ramos Mejía.

4. Adelmo

A bistro that never fails: it has hearty dishes and a perfect atmosphere for autumn days. One striking feature as soon as you walk through the door is the ceiling: made of fine woods that let the light through, making it a bright and cozy space. As in all bistros, the tables are always covered with white cloth tablecloths and napkins.

It has a central island where you can sit and try some of the dishes from the menu. It's decorated with plants and wood, giving the place a modern touch. On the upper floor, there’s a speakeasy bar.

The menu strictly adheres to the bistro concept: classic and super-abundant dishes. A good choice could be grilled pork flank or beer-braised pork shoulder with sweet potato mash, both for sharing. To accompany, an Imperial Cream Stout would be perfect—creamy with coffee notes. If you're craving something sweet, the chocolate volcano is a great choice.

Tip: If you visit on your birthday, you won’t pay.

Where: Dardo Rocha 1734, San Isidro.
