1. Casa República

Right in the heart of the Microcentro, Casa República offers a pause surrounded by history, architecture and good food. Housed in the restored Palacio Peña, it retains its stained-glass windows, salons and original details from the late 19th century. You can settle in for hours with a coffee or afternoon tea at its pulpería-bar, or sit down for lunch and explore a menu inspired by Argentine flavors.
The visit can be rounded off at Concepto Preludio, a carefully curated bookstore specializing in photography, design, architecture and heritage. It’s also worth walking up the impressive staircase, admiring the restored dome and taking a moment in the historic salons before heading back to the café. Here, time seems to move a little slower.
The tip: Highlights from the menu include buñuelos de la huerta, asado tira with arugula and Parmesan salad, pastel de papa and the omelette sorpresa, a tribute to chef Gato Dumas.
Where: Florida 460, San Nicolás.
