A bit of cold cuts, cheese, and a cold beer are the perfect combination for summer. Santa Fe, Salta, and Villa La Angostura are some of the stops on this gastronomic route.

It’s summer, it’s hot, and we thought we’d recommend some places to enjoy a snack platter. A simple yet foolproof option for this time of year: snack platters are light, can be shared among many, and pair perfectly with an ice-cold beer.

Then, we decided to take it up a notch and suggest you explore different Argentine cities, trying their many versions and ingredients. We headed to Salta, visited Santa Fe and Mendoza, and ended in Villa La Angostura. Snack platter and back on the road.

1. Soho - Salta

The first stop on this snack route is Salta, a city with many museums and historic places to visit. But before or during your exploration, we recommend making a stop at Soho, a bar located about 20 minutes from the central square. The bar also has a rooftop where you can enjoy a tasty treat with beautiful views of the city.

The menu offers several platters such as the cold cuts platter (pategrás cheese, salami, tybo, prosciutto, bondiola, cooked ham) or the house platter (tacos, quesadillas, mozzarella sticks, breaded meat, french fries with sauces). You can enjoy them inside or at the sidewalk tables with your favorite Imperial beer.

Fun fact: It’s open every day, and they have several promotions like 2-for-1 drinks and a virtual wallet where you load your purchases and get discounts for your next visit.

Where: Av. del Bicentenario de la Batalla de Salta 797, Salta Capital.

2. Proa Bar de Río - Santa Fe

Next, we head more toward the center of the country, to a city that undoubtedly has a strong beer culture. If you love sunsets and breathtaking views, this place has everything you need. Fun fact: if you’re looking for the best after-office spots in Buenos Aires for some delicious beers, you’ll find them in this article.

The bar is located on the banks of the Santa Fe River, within the Yacht Club of the city. You can choose a table in the gallery or on the wooden deck over the water. The sunset is a must-see here: the sun sets behind the city skyline as you enjoy a live DJ and a cold beer.

As it’s by the river, the house specialty is fish and seafood. We recommend trying the platter with calamari, battered shrimp, and empanadas. Definitely pair it with an Imperial IPA, a beer that’s currently very popular, freshly poured to complement its bitterness and citrus notes.

Fun fact: It’s open Thursday to Sunday. You can book your spot by calling 342 559-0053.

Where: Punta Este Puente Oroño, Yacht Club Santa Fe.

3. Luppolo - Mendoza

Continuing on our route, we arrive at a place where wine and sommeliers are the true stars (did you know that beer sommeliers also exist? We tell you more in this article), but where the food scene is also thriving and the options to enjoy something delicious are at their best.

Luppolo Imperial is located in La Barraca Mall, one of the city’s most well-known shopping centers. It has outdoor tables and a super relaxed atmosphere. The sunsets on the terrace are special, and in the summer, there are usually live DJs.

The menu features the Imperial platter (salami, various cheeses, ham, olives, aioli) as one of its highlights, and the draft beer as its ideal companion. We recommend trying the Imperial Cream Stout, a dark beer with creamy foam and notes of coffee and chocolate.

Fun fact: Luppolo recently opened a new location at Mercado Moreno, a new gastronomic hub in Mendoza, just like Mercado Central.

Where: Las Cañas 1633, La Barraca Mall, Mendoza.

4. Ruta 40 Bar & Grill - Villa la Angostura

Our journey ends in one of the most beautiful cities in southern Argentina. If you decide to take the Seven Lakes Route, one of the 30 must-do activities in Patagonia, this place can be your stop before or after the tour.

At Ruta 40 Bar & Grill, the walls breathe adventures, travel, and journeys: there are license plates, vintage signs, and even the back of a renovated van. The menu also gives a nod to road travelers, with road sign illustrations and a small note on the left margin mentioning that Route 40 is one of the longest roads in the world.

We recommend the cold cuts platter (cantimpalo, prosciutto, cooked and dry salami, cheese, olives, and homemade bread) or the beer snack platter (salami, cheese, peanuts, and olives). To accompany them, try an Imperial Extra Lager, a light beer with good body and a great finish.

Fun fact: It’s open every day, from 8 AM to 2 AM, and is located on one of the most important corners of Villa la Angostura. Two blocks away from this spot, you can start the legendary Seven Lakes Route.

Where: Av. Arrayanes 198, Villa La Angostura.
