Cape Town Cycle Tour: entries are open!

Cape Town’s favourite Sunday ride is coming back, so mark 8 March 2026 in your diary right away!

That’s the day thousands of cyclists will line up for the 48th Cape Town Cycle Tour, tackling either the iconic 109km lap of the Peninsula or the punchy 42km loop out and back along the Blue Route. Expect rolling road closures, ocean views for days and that uniquely Cape Town chorus of brass bands and braais along the way.

“The Cape Town Cycle Tour is more than just a timed race; it is a celebration of health, community, and the sheer joy of cycling, all on fully closed roads,” says David Bellairs, CEO of the Cape Town Cycle Tour. “Every year we see new riders join, seasoned cyclists return, and international visitors marvel at the route’s beauty. 2026 will be no different; it promises to be another unforgettable edition of this truly iconic event.”

The Cycle Tour is renowned for its smooth organisation, even as thousands of cyclists take to the city streets. Off the bike, Cape Town shows off its good side, with a full weekend of fun at the Cape Town Cycle Tour Expo.

And if you can’t make race day? Why not join the Prelude Challenge? From 21 February to 1 March 2026, the Cape Town Cycle Tour Prelude Challenge lets you ride anywhere, anytime. All you have to do is log your kilometres, share the build-up, and join the global peloton from wherever you find yourself.
