Flysafair passengers are being advised that FlySafair pilots are planning to go on strike over the weekend, with the airline stating it will activate contingency plans as it continues to engage with its pilots.

The airline confirmed that negotiations with its pilot union, Solidarity, have deadlocked, opening the door for protected strike action. As of today, 16 July 2025, the airline acknowledges that Solidarity has been issued a strike certificate, meaning pilots may legally begin industrial action with 72 hours’ notice.

Despite the looming threat of disruption, FlySafair says flights will continue as planned for now.

“We are fully prepared to manage the situation responsibly, with contingency plans in place to ensure minimal disruption,” said Kirby Gordon, the airline’s Chief Marketing Officer. “Customers can continue to book and travel with confidence.”

FlySafair has reiterated its commitment to passenger safety and regulatory compliance while respecting the rights of both striking and non-striking crew members. Gordon emphasised that the airline remains open to “constructive resolution” an that current operations remain fully compliant with all aviation safety regulations.
