It's Time Out Market Cape Town's birthday this Saturday and it's a party you'll want to add to your weekend plans.
As the first Time Out Market in Africa, it has added Cape Town's incredible food heritage to the list of global food and cultural halls recognised for curating the best culinary experiences under one roof in each particular destination.
Time Out Fun Fact: The first Market opened in Lisbon in 2014 and there are now 13 open locations in cities like New York (with one in Brooklyn and the newest one in Union Square), as well as Chicago, Osaka, Dubai and of course, the Mother City with a few more in development.
The selection on offer at the Cape Town Market over the past year has continued to bring the talent of the city's local chefs to the fore with mainstays like Peter Tempelhoff and Ashley Moss at Ramenhead, Giorgio Nava at CARNE, Anwar Abdullatief at Barakat, along with the newest addition of Opa under the direction of Callan Austin, co-founder of DUSK.
So, this weekend, Time Out Market Cape Town is celebrating its second anniversary with a mix of live performances, buskers and fun activations, including a special partnership with the WOOF Project.

The celebrations kick off at 12:30 PM with the Ithemba Youth Choir, bringing uplifting voices to the Waterfront.
From 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM, the spotlight shifts to soulful singer-songwriter Just Judah. From 7:30 PM until close, DJ AlleySA will bring all the party beats for the evening.
Throughout, guests can enjoy festive drink specials activated through the Time Out Market Cape Town App to earn those loyalty points.
Adding layers of character to the event, Shani Delport, the Blondie Poet, brings bespoke, custom works to her spoken performance, together with local busker Stinky the Clown - all performed at the Dry Dock. Meanwhile, Noleen will offer face-painting for kids at Nobel Square.
Importantly, this celebration also serves a cause: Time Out Market Cape Town is partnering with the WOOF Project, a pop-up dog adoption initiative powered by Oscars Arc, which promotes the rescue and rehoming of shelter dogs. Do pop in to pet some of their furry friends in need, and who knows - you might just want to take one home with you.
