Your guide to the best experiences across the Mother City this Friday, 27 February to Sunday, 1 March.

Sorry to those with leap year birthdays. It can’t be fun when all your friends are out there enjoying life while your birth certificate says you’re not legally fit to be behind the wheel of a car.
If it’s any consolation, this weekend is filled with lots of family-friendly activities. We’ve got the Curious Kids Adventure Festival happening at Zevenwacht Wine Estate, and The Nutcracker at the Artscape Theatre (I’m sure kids pay half price).
Hey, if your birthday’s on February 29th, how does that free trip with the Table Mountain cableway work? Asking for a friend…
I’ve always been fascinated by The Nutcracker. Maybe it’s because I’ve watched the ballet so many times on TV. Just the thought of finally seeing it in real life makes me warm and fuzzy inside. Call it nostalgia or a hankering for snowflakes and sugar plum fairies. Bringing Tchaikovsky’s enchanting score to life, South Africa’s best classical dancers have set the bar high. And honestly, I can’t wait to see how.
Bo Petersen’s Pieces of Me comes 60 years after District Six was declared a whites-only area. The discourse around land restitution and informal settlements isn’t lost on the actress. The autobiographical performance centres on Petersen’s real-life discovery, at the age of 19, that her father had “passed” as white under apartheid.
If you’re a craft beer fan, you should get yourself down to Time Out Market this Saturday. The seasonal Brews & Beers Festival will have buckets of beer (tons of it), outdoor games, live music, and The YARD Hot-Wings Challenge.
Time Out Tip: If you purchase the R350 ticket, Time Out Market will throw in a R250 meal voucher.
It’s that time of the year when the Mother City is adorned with Pride flags and all the colours of the rainbow. Celebrating the incredible diversity of our beautiful community, Cape Town Pride month concludes with The Mardi Gras, where top artists perform on the main stage.
Thirty-seven plays. Two hours. Can it be done? Or is it, “To be, or not to be, that is the question.” Either way, F Creations is willing to try with The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged). The production blends clever parody with a genuine love for Shakespeare.
Renowned guitarist Derek Gripper has an uncanny gift for translating the sounds of the kora to classical guitar. Kyle Sheperd brings his inventive jazz-rooted brilliance. Together, they create an intricate, spellbinding symphony of sound, blending African traditions with modern improvisation.
Local Cape Town influencer Rasheeqah Karriem is doing the Lord’s work when hosting these markets. Karriem gives local vendors a chance to display their crafts and eats. And every auntie this side of the Cape Flats will tell you about all the Eid bargains they found.
Musician, producer, and songwriter Pzho TKG invites fans to celebrate his birthday. Join him and his crew for an unforgettable night of great company, lively vibes, and amazing performances.
The Curious Kids Adventure Festival is a vibrant, interactive family festival where children can explore, create, move, and imagine. Perfect for kids of all ages, the weekend festival brings together learning through play.
Zones A to F are already sold out. The next best are party tickets, starting at R2500. Chances are, if you’re reading this, you’re probably deciding whether that money is better spent holding you down until payday. Don’t worry, we don’t judge.
The light heavyweight road to the Pro Contender Series consists of four rounds, with the title bout between Cameron Timm and Taurai Zinami. Thereafter, all other fights are over three rounds times three minutes.
You’ll get to design and assemble your own personalised monogram keychain set, complete with layered textures, elegant tassels, and thoughtful finishing details. No experience necessary. Just come ready to create and enjoy the process.
Jägermeister ends Meister Week with an iconic Meister Society send-off. Students across Johannesburg, Cape Town, Pretoria, Durban, and Stellenbosch will come together for a high-energy orientation finale with Young Stunna, Uncle Waffles, Focalistic, Dlala Thukzin, and more.
