Cape Town traffic might have been rough lately, but November is bringing some sweet respite for road-trippers.
The latest data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF) indicates that petrol prices are set to drop by around 60 cents a litre when the next adjustment takes effect this week.
That's right - it's expected to go down, not up. According to a CEF’s insights forecast shared by Business Tech, both grades of petrol are on track for a decent cut:
- 93-octane: around 61c per litre down
- 95-octane: around 57 per litre down
- Diesel: around 31 to 33c per litre down

So, what’s behind this welcome dip? Global oil prices have cooled thanks to weaker demand, while the rand has held its own against the dollar. Add those up, and suddenly that long drive along Chapman’s Peak doesn’t feel quite as expensive.
Of course, the final figures still need to be confirmed - but from Wednesday, get ready to fill up your tank and enjoy the sweet sound of savings while taking any one of these top day trips in and around Cape Town.
