After a four-year hiatus (thanks for nothing, Covid-pandemic), the much-loved Cape Town International Jazz Festival returns to the Cape Town International Convention Centre from May 3-4, 2024, with four new-look stages.

Formerly known as Kippies, Moses Molelekwa, and Rosies, these stages will this year be known as Sapphire, Ruby and Emerald respectively, with a new outside stage dubbed Topaz.

Taking to the stage will be a line-up of musicians from across the world, tapping into both traditional African jazz and more contemporary styles of performance. While the final line-up is still being fine-tuned, expect a truly global roster that will include the likes of Matt Bianco, Kokoroko and The Yussef Dayes Experience from the United Kingdom, alongside local jazz and soul artists such as Mandisi Dyantyis, Radio Sechaba, Zoë Modiga and Carlo Mombelli & The Prisoners of Strange.

'We have worked hard over the past few months to compile a programme that pays homage to the heritage of our jazz roots, but also speaks to the exciting future of music that is embracing all jazz-related genres as anthems for a new tomorrow,' says Lindsay Rhoda, Head of Talent at Cape Town International Jazz Festival.

Another new addition to the 2024 Festival is the ground-floor Flavour Junction, featuring food trucks and a selection of bars, while Jazz Ensemble promises a revamped VIP offering with a luxe lounge, extensive buffet and complimentary beverages

The ‘Goldilocks’ option is the Jazz Café, where you’ll enjoy complimentary snacks and light bites, with a dedicated cash bar.

General admission tickets cost R950 per night, and allow access to the Sapphire and Topaz stages. To manage capacity at the Emerald (Rosies), and Ruby (Moses Molelekwa) stages, additional surcharge tickets are required at R30 per person per show.

General admission tickets are on sale through Ticketmaster. Surcharge Tickets for Ruby and Emerald will be released later in March.

Or, get your glitter on for the Cape Town Carnival!
