Since its launch in 1994, the District Six Museum in Cape Town has been a pioneer in preserving and sharing the stories and experiences of District Six and the people who were forcibly removed during the Apartheid regime.

What sets this museum apart is that it offers guided site walks and tours led by former residents.

What to expect during your visit:

The District Six Museum features several exhibitions showcasing a multitude of artists, including painters, sculptors, musicians and writers.

Its current permanent exhibition, titled Digging Deeper, invites visitors to explore the lives of former District Six residents in greater depth. The exhibition combines documentary, digital and sound elements to create an immersive experience.

- Elderly and former residents of District Six and other areas of forced removals: Free
- Guided site walk: R130 (weather-dependent)
- Self-guided tour: R60
- Tour through the museum with a former resident: R75

Time:

- Monday to Saturday: 9:30 am, 10:30 am, 11:30 am, 1:30 pm
