While socks and chocolates are a good start (forget the supermarket bars; rather head for one of these boutique chocolate stores in Cape Town), what most dads really want (trust us on this one) is to spend a little quality time with their loved ones.

To get you started, we’ve rounded up some of the best Father’s Day events, menus, and activities taking place across the city and surrounding Winelands.

South Africa - along with the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany - will be celebrating Dad on 15th June, some countries like to buck the trend.

Down Under it’s on the first Sunday of September. In countries with a strong Catholic population, Father's Day is observed on Saint Joseph's Day, 19th March. Thailand goes completely off on a tangent, celebrating fathers on 5th December, coinciding with the birthday of former King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Now that you’ve sorted your next pub quiz category, it’s time to start planning. Whether your father figure enjoys whisky and Wagyu or woodwork and wine farms, Cape Town has something for everyone this Father’s Day, catering to every budget. So why not skip the socks and treat Dad to a memorable day out.
