Spray-painted Jack Daniel's bottles

BOTTLE SERVICE You haven’t used empty liquor bottles as decor since you lived in off-campus housing with six other underclassmen, but guess what? The Blues Jean Bar (2210 N Halsted St, 773-248-5326) actually does it right. Walk into this denim store’s Lincoln Park outpost (it also has shops in San Francisco, Denver, Santa Monica and Dallas) and you’ll see spray-painted Jack Daniel’s bottles displayed among the merch. “We [originally] noticed them at the Stitch’s Jeans booth during a trade show in Las Vegas. So we had more made for us,” says Lady Fuller, president of the Blues Jean Bar. “They complement our ‘bar’ theme quite nicely.” Shane Crawford, sales manager for Stitch’s, says he was just looking for fun colors to add to the booth. “I picked Jack Daniel’s because it added an edge to the sometimes feminine colors of the spray paints,” he says. It’s an easy look to re-create for you own bar cart or kitchen area: Just save three or four empty Jack Daniel’s (or any cool-looking liquor bottles), spray paint them in interesting colors (BJB uses blue, white and silver hues) and, presto, you have a fab little display—just don’t empty all those bottles in one sitting.
