Have you ever been to the South?
Only to Florida (and Disney World, at that). However, I have a great appreciation for, and fascination with, the South. [It] evokes a certain old-fashioned charm. I’d love to explore sweeping plantations, the Mississippi Delta and classic Southern cities like Savannah.

What do you think characterizes Southern style?
To me, Southern style is romantic, demure and feminine—the epitome of ‘ladylike.’ It’s alluring and classic, but it conceals rather than reveals, suggests instead of shows.

Describe your style.
I love vintage clothing from the late 1930s and early ’40s, as well as whimsical pieces from the 1950s—to me, the South also connotes a penchant for fun and laughter, and my 1950s vintage aesthetic is in line with that vision.

That hat would be perfect at the Kentucky Derby. Where do you find stuff like that?
I’ll go anywhere—and I mean anywhere—that might have vintage clothing for sale: vintage stores and shows, antique malls, estate sales, flea markets, auctions, eBay, Etsy, my friends’ closets.

What’s your opinion on cowboy boots? Should only real cowboys get to wear them?
[Laughs] No way! Not everyone grows up with the opportunity to wear them authentically, so I don’t see anything wrong with discovering them later! Plus, they’re cute, come in lots of styles and colors, and are comfortable.
