Toby Kaufmann-Buhler
In this video series, Toby began by using Super-8 film to capture brief quotations of text from works published by members of his family. By treating the film and text as visual artifacts through video, this work offers new ways of thinking about film as a “window” into the past (and the text within it), expanding his approach to video as he works with the film's frame-by-frame materiality. The soundtracks for these videos echo this deconstructive and reconstructive process, consisting of manipulated and treated musical saw.

Lori Kella
The Seven Summits and the Lesser Peaks I Remember:
This series of photographs depicts the seven summits, the highest peaks on each continent, as well as several more humble mountains that Kella have traversed. Through her photography she explores the representation of these iconic summits, both physically, and as a metaphor for her aspirations and disappointments as an artist.

Jacob Koestler
Black Body
This single-channel video loop is a contemporary meditation on Plato's Allegory of the Cave. Using a video feedback loop to re-shoot and project large-scale photographs of caves throughout Appalachia, the piece examines the gray area between still and moving, real and perceived and most importantly the fine line between inner and outer space. This video projection is part of a larger multimedia exhibition created from 2012–16 entitled The Natural Bridge.
