In Training & Gtk Present: Sonic Resistance says
From the underground parties in Chicago's south side that birthed house in all it's forms, to Underground Resistance's militant efforts of reaching and empowering lower class black people in Detroit through the sounds of their intense brand of techno, the dance music subgenres of house and techno have long had anti-establishment and empowering themes for the people it was made by and for. This aspect of the music's history is something that must be preserved and passed on at all costs, especially with all the parallels between disparate Chicago and Detroit that can be drawn to our own town of Cleveland.

Providing us with a glimpse into the timeline and modern practice of sonic resistance through dance music will be ADAB (Heaven Is In You), Red Tailed Hawk Luna (Smartbar Chicago/4NPLCY), and A-LIVE (Muamin Collective/Young Kings), three people whose knowledge and passion for the transformative powers of dance music are felt by anyone who speaks to them about it. Questions, comments, and dialogue are encouraged for our speakers!!! Short DJ sets by each speaker will follow the discussion.

The following day marks In Training's 2 year anniversary, so make sure to come out and see the sonic resistance in action.

"BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF THE UNDERGROUND. FREE YOUR MIND OF THE CHAINS OF THE MATERIAL WORLD. COME WITH US INTO "THE VOID" A PLACE WHERE TIME, SPACE, AND VALUE DO NOT EXIST. A PLACE WHERE SOUND DRAWS A PICTURE ON A BLANK WALL. A PLACE WHERE PEOPLE ARE MOTIVATED BY SOUL AND THE NEED TO OVERCOME AGAINST ALL ODDS. A PLACE WHERE, IN DETROIT, EVERYONE HAS TO VISIT DUE TO THE HARDSHIPS AND SETBACKS OF THE SURFACE WORLD. COME WITH US TO THE OTHER SIDE,"THE UNDERGROUND", A PLACE WHERE ONLY YOUR MIND CAN TAKE YOU! SEE YOU IN THE OTHER WORLD. PEACE!" - from Various Artists - Escape Into The Void on Submerge Records Detroit
