On Sunday, February 21st at 12 pm Northeast Ohio Autism Speaks will present a pre-release screening of JACK OF THE RED HEARTS, a new indie drama that explores the challenges a family faces in raising a daughter with autism.

Jack, (AnnaSophia Robb) a streetwise teen and casualty of the flawed foster care system, cons her way into a job by posing as an experienced caregiver for a family with an autistic child. At first in over her head, Jack ends up connecting with her new life in a way she never expected. Meanwhile the family, in particular the mother Kay (Famke Janssen), makes a positive impact on Jack, and the wounded but tough survivors begin to heal each other a little bit -- until the law catches up, the truth comes out, and Jack must choose: save herself or help someone else.

Doors open at 12pm and screening will begin at 12:15 and end at 2pm. After the film, from 2pm-3pm, the audience will have the opportunity to discuss the issues it raises with Director Janet Grillo and with the Northeast Ohio Autism Speaks staff. Janet Grillo is a critically acclaimed filmmaker of FLY AWAY, Emmy Award winning Exec Prod of HBO doc AUTISM THE MUSICAL and mother of a son on the Autism spectrum.

Jack of the Red Hearts won the Jury Prize at the inaugural Bentonville Film Festival. It won the Audience Award and Director’s Prize for Best Young Actress at Woods Hole Film Festival, for Taylor Richardson's performance as a severely Autistic child. It’s played in festivals here and abroad, winning a total of 11 awards. It will be in limited theatrical release, via AMC Indie, opening on 2/26/16, nationwide.

This screening is made possible by the support of The Goldberg Law Firm and The Law Office of Daniel M. Margolis, LLC

We hope you can join us! Please remember to reserve your ticket on eventbrite!
