ACLU of Ohio says
The ACLU of Ohio and the Ohio Chapter of the National Lawyers Guild present a talk by Kris Hermes, national activist, award-winning NLG member, and frequent contributor to The Huffington Post, who recently published the book “Crashing the Party: Legacies and Lessons from the RNC 2000.”

By examining the events stemming from the Republican National Convention protests in 2000, “Crashing the Party” is an engrossing combination of social history and courtroom drama which explains the origins, development, and extent of the contemporary policing of political protest. It provides rare insight into the methods and practical applications of solidarity tactics used by protesters in jail and in court. Hermes analyzes a radical form of legal support whereby dissidents and legal activists worked hand-in-hand to maximize their collective strength and minimize the harmful effects of the state.

The event will be held at the Max Wohl Civil Liberties Center and begins at 7 p.m., followed by Q&A and a reception with the author.
